DOWNTOWN RESIDENTS ALLIANCE

How Close Is too Close For City Living?

The range of 60 to 80 foot tower spacing is generally considered appropriate as an urban minimum to assure light, air and view through and between buildings for both residents and the public beyond the project.... The consequences of not establishing appropriate tower spacing and bulk regulation has been demonstrated by built projects in Belltown and the Denny Triangle. This is exemplified by the Cosmopolitan/Schnitzer projects on Ninth and Virginia where only an 18 feet alley separates a 300 foot tower from a 400 foot tower (shown in the image above). --Seattle Planning Commission, October 2009

How many more disastrous projects have to be built before Seattle takes action to provide everyone, no matter where they reside, the residential development standards for a livable environment that includes access to daylight, open space, and privacy? This is about fairness and justice!
