Amendments to the HALA legislation for Downtown/SLU will be under consideration at the PLUZ [Planning, Land Use, and Zoning Committee meeting in City Council Chambers next Tuesday, March 21, at 9:30 AM. 

This way, the City can have it all…livability, health, and safety protection for downtown residents, no reduction in development capacity for developers, and generate the necessary funding for affordable housing.

If Seattle is going to be a great City in the future, it needs to better align its policies with its political pronouncements....

We do not believe it is in the best interests of Seattle and its residents to rush to bolster the Mayor's reelection campaign by ignoring serious environmental impacts and passing HALA without the proper protections for its residents.

The Mayor’s HALA proposal offers a window of opportunity to fix land-use code flaws, bring our alleys into the 21st Century, and raise the much-needed funds for Affordable Housing at the same time...
